Hey Blue dunno what happened. Facebook has its place but its not a message board that you can go to and find information like we had on BFW such as how to install the Trolling Motor tray etc. If we can get some participation here I am willing to try and rejuvinate BFW with a new message board, website etc. Alot of people put alot of work into the last project and I appreciate thier help

I spoke with someone in refferance to getting our board up and running again. He said our cost would be between $10-$15K this is to transfer all the data to a new program. With 1100 members $10 each would get us up and running again. It's up to all of you. Alot of people put in alot of hours working and or enjoying this message board and our activitys.

Well hopefully all these members will see your note John and will see the difference between facebook and what "can happen" in terms of info, and comradeship here at BFW. What say all?

May have to start over Blue! We did it once we can do it again! The other sites don't have problems getting financial support from thier members. Maybe its me they don't like?

As you said to start over is nothing new and if that's the route, then maybe thats the way to go to revive BFW. I am, and have been, a part of a lot of different boards as a member and moderator of different levels and as a administrator to boot and have never been asked to support it finacially, and well, the one was here at BFW to which I did. Do a lot of boards down there require members finacial support? Your question as to whether people dislike you or not is not a question I can answer for them or know how they feel as I'm a long way from home,(BFW), and know no-one personally includeing you. Both you and Bill have been the backbone here, with a few others on staff, and you have weathered through a lot of stormy and smotth sailing water and now the site has a history of fishing people like few others, would be a shame to see it fade into the waves.

Hey Blue, to answer your question about financial support. Yes, most of the good boards that only get income from advertisers ask for help to finance their site but do not require it. I am talking about boards like TFF, another board, Ultimate Bass just look for a logo beside a members name such as we had for those that supported us. Some boards allow non paying members to access their site but may also have members only areas of the site for those that pay. I go to a towing forum called Tow411 and it is free unless you want to either sell something or go into specific members only forums. Some free forums are attached to tackle companys etc and thier income is derived by selling thier products to members. Most of these boards are doing very well as they are still in business, notice I said business because this is time consuming and expensive and don't see why anyone should bear the expense alone. If you go back I am sure it is still on here a thread asking the members if they wanted to move from this free site to a better more user friendly forum that would cost a minimum of $50 per month plus bandwidth went up to $300 per month when we where getting 500 hits per day. The majority agreed to fund this move so we moved to Zeroforum. At 1st we had plenty of support from members and people willing to sponsor us, now we have a defunct message board due to a lawsuit and taken in $20 from Brian Day in the last several years. Due to an inactive account the bank took $5.00 per month. The most Bill and I ever got for our troubles was a few sample packs of baits! Now this board is free costs nobody anything, we are not asking for any money because its free but nobody is posting on it. But we have 7 years of work & data floating around in Cyberspace. Its still there we just don't have the funds to get it. Bill and I have spoken and if we do start another forum we will have it reside on one of our computers. We will only be able to import members information but none of the data. To extract the data would take 2-3 weeks of cutting & pasting code which is where a cost of 10-15K comes in. They need the work and will come down on the price but the $3 or $4 in the BFW account won't cover it.

It's always been known by our T anglers up here that sponsorship in the US is far beyond the involvement of Canadian companies corporations and business peoples for whatever reasons. I'm surprised that more support for this site would be difficult....I'm even more surprised that now that it's free, that there isn't a lot more traffic than this. BFW..as I said before, has been host to a great number of fish people with such a wide degree of experience and knowledge, cripes...I think there has even been marriages that came out of here as well as business and sponsorships that grew or were created here. Reading around the site I've seen a lot of names from the past who have dropped in as guests as well as a few who have maintained a membership and a lot of lurkers who just pop in and out, would be nice to see the flame re-kindled, even if it is a new start, all the info you say that is in cyberspace can be started afresh, which I think would create interesting reading that just might stir the coals a bit.

Well said Blue! People quickly forget the benifits they got from the site. Thank You for remembering!! I tried sending out e-mails directing people to this site to no avail. I don't even know if they are getting my e-mails. Bill had a banner posted to redirect people to this forum but nobody is posting here. Our facebook page has 550 members but not much traffic.
