Finally had a chance to get back out on Fayette yesterday afternoon. Last time I was on the lake was back in March.... I spent about 15-20 min at the launch just getting everything converted over to Fayette mode. I had to change just about everything up... Started fishing at 3:30 and things were pretty slow. No fish and a few bites by 6pm. The wind really picked up during that time making it difficult to fish some of my areas. Around 6pm I started fishing schoolies and managed to land 2. First fish was around 5lbs, second around 3lbs both on flukes. The fish that were schooling weren't staying up very long and it was hard to stay in position. Before it got too late, I went to the dike wall to try and catch some. Got to the wall and caught the nastiest, sickest, bass I've ever seen. This fish, if healthy, would have been 6lbs, but probably only weighed 3lbs....and that was mostly tail, head and bones. I've never seen a bass in this bad of shape. When I caught her, she couldn't even fight, I just reeled her in. After that, I caught a solid 5 and that was all. Ended the afternoon with 4 bass. Would have like to stay into the night, but couldn't.

Joel,
You did well, I would rather be fishing than be at work.

How was the water? Did you find any grass at all?

Grass? On Fayette...There will never be hydrilla again, if that is what you mean. In the shallows there is Southern Naiad (sp?)...a coarse grass that does not grow the same way hydrilla does.
Be that as it may, over all, the fishing is better, bigger and better. Just have to fish for them differently.
