i spent this past week up in ar. on lake ouachita. the water was crystal clear. i didn't know what clear water was, but when you watch a deep diver come back to ya it's clear....
i found fish on points that dropped off quickly w/ some coontail on the edges. i was sitting in 30-50 ft and cast up on the point w/ a spook type bait, twitch it 5-6 times and one would blast it. as i reeled that one it there would be 5-6 w/ it, i'd cast right back out and catch another with 3-4 w/ it. then the bite got very tough. i could only catch 3-4 per point. so i did alot of point jumping where i would walk'em up, crank a few, then bottem bounce a texas or carolina rig.
my sonar was on the blip, i had to turn the gain all the way up just to find the bottom. so i couldn't hunt for schools like i wanted. i did run over a school of something in 40-50ft but had to go in. i didn't even drop a bait down to see what it was...lol i'd fish to 9 or 10 then go in and do the family vacation thingy.
i had a blast on a beautiful lake and counted maybe 5 others fishing on atleast 1/2 the lake. i was off by the time the skiers came out.
