Well I finally had a problem with my old trusty Ranger the other day. While fishing at Fayette during a rough and windy day, the seat base on the front of the boat broke. The base casting broke and now I'm gonna have to take the carpet up and replace the base. I e-mailed Ranger and they were very helpful in explaining how to replace the base. It looks like I have a weekend job to do before I can put a seat on the front. I may wait until the weatherman predicts rain all weekend before I start this project.

Check to see if only the plastic insert is broken. That is a common problem with Ranger pedestal mounts. The plastic will swell due to a reaction with hydrocarbon based oil. The result will be a very tight fit, followed by a broken insert. If only the plastic insert is broken the give Ranger a call & order a repair kit. An easy and inexpensive fix.
If it does turn out to be a broken mount then take some pictures as you make repairs. Post them so we can all learn from the repair. Good luck on the repair.
