ok, as some of you may know, katy bassmasters has a little club tournament saturday night at fayette (hence the recent reports from fayette) anyway, it has been a while since i fished at night and thought i would post this as this weeks topic...
Are some nights better that others?
full moon, no moon, etc?
baits.... spinner?
cranks?
tops?
worms?
etc.
any other advice?

I don't do much night fishing anymore Ed but used to do it alot on Conroe. My wife still does but since she is fishing with me on Saturday I don't know if she will let me tell her secrets. I do know that she uses baits and techniques that appeal to the fishes sense of smell & the lateral line.

I'd be more interested in how the fish move, do they tend to come up shallow at night, or do they stay deep, or both??? I guess it depends on the baitfish, but I would think fish would tend to move shallow. If the sun moves them deep, then the lack of should move them shallow?

i fish at nigh, but only around a full moon not b/c the fish bite better but i see better. lol generally i feel your fishing for totally different fish then the day, bigger ones....lol my lure size really upscales at night. i use 10-12 worms, big jointed jitterbug, big bladed spinners or buzzbait.i still let the fish tell me what they won't starting fast then slowing down. i prefer the top though. colors well i pretty much stick to black, but on the last outing at night my partner was dead sticking a big watermellon/blk spk senko and did just as good. it was a very slow bite but what caught was over 4lbs. he dead sticked a 6lber at dark?? go figure. i do believe more fish move shallow or up to feed therefore the whole different fish theory. shallow may be 20ft on a hump, ridge, or creek channel drop.

My granpa used to only throw a black jitterbug at night. I may have to change the hooks but it worked for him. Then there is the purple worm.
