I tried some of the new florocarbon line on my C-rig for the leader line. After breaking off two fish I have decided that this is not for me. I also use fireline for the main line so I am wondering if it's me or the combination of the two. I have a pretty stout hookset so I could be the problem. When I first started using the fireline I broke the leader so I set the drag back a little. Has anyone else had this problem and did you go back to mono or are you still using the florocarbon?

Ranger360,
I never left monofiliment, I am interested in the P line, I have a spool but haven't tried it yet.
I was interested in the braid, but since it floats, I haven't tried it.

I use flourocarbon alot, and i think the problem you may be having a low stretch leader on braided main line. something has got to give, and 99% its going to be the leader... i would suggest backing off the drag, and using more of a sweeping hookset... with all that low stretch stuff, you dont need to hammer the hookset anywa...

I am using a 12 pound Flourocarbon leader on my Carolina Rig and haven't broken any fish off. I was using braid and went back to P-Line for my main line. Are you sure it's not old Robert?

are you setting the hook like a TX rig or are you doing a sweeping motion? Also what is the action of the C-Rig rod your using?? I use a 7' HM and if I use below 14lb line I break off on the hook set. When I use lighter the 12 lb leader, I go to a spinning rod, and then I use 10lb for everything. This works for me. Hope it helps!!

I did a seminar for Tri-County Bass Club tonight and a member mention problems with abrasion resistance on the Flourocarbon line. Said he broke off alot of fish on Livingston

I contacted Berkley after a few pop with Vanish by Crappie on 10 lb test One of the things Berkley suggested if you get any kind of kink when tying the knot cut it off and start again it decreased the strength by 60 % so if you are using 10 test it is now around 4 They also told me that it was not very good in water below 60 degrees becomes brittle
