What kind of PFD (personal floatation device) do you prefer suspenders type , auto inflate, 100 mph vest type and so on I carry 3 types in my boat one is the belt co2 type I keep on all the time also have an auto inflate for days when the wind get's up around 25 plus and then I have 100 mph type for days when I get caught out in really rough weather and have to get back
The nice part about the CO2 type they take up very little room and is easily changed out as the weather dictates but with all the confusion by game wardens as to have to wear and not have to wear I also keep my vest type in the boat

I use a Sospenders manual inflatable model. It is USCG approved. My wife has an Sospenders automatic inflatable vest but is only USCG aproved if it is worn. Therefore I carry a Skeeter 100MPH vest in the boat also to stay legal. I have had TPWD check my vests label before. Bill I like your idea about the waist pack for fishing in the wind

I stick with the high speed vest style.
I want the cushion and the feel of something around me, similar to the feel of seat belts, it's a feeling of reassurement for me.

SOSpenders. Ask Sandy Kane why.
They are well worth the money. In the winter with all your heavy clothes on they will still float you...most "life jackets" will not.
In the summer, they are light and comfortable.
If you fish alone, you need to keep one of these on. You will forget it is there. At my age, if I come out of my boat while fishing alone, I ain't getting back in without this device.
Finally, if it is good enough for Ray Scott, it is good enough for me!

100 mph type, don't let them get to old. I had one tear all apart when I hit the water one time and it looked just fine except dirty with years of fishing use and evidently dry rotted. Not what you want to find out after your in the water and really need pfd to work.
