Ok with gas prices going nuts how has it effected you fishing. I know I do not go as much as I would like when you have say 20 gallons of gas to get to the ramps and home at a average cost of $2.25 a gallon that is $45. Now we have the boat I get great gas usage out of my Yamaha but it holds 48 gallons of gas let say in a days fishing you burn 10 gallons I know some burn a lot less some burn double that but for this exercise it is 10 gallons so we have 22.50 + $45 so we have burnt $67.50 in gas to go fishing
I know Nanda and I have discussed it we are fishing really close to home monthly but a couple times a year we are going for a week at a time staying at motels 3 nights fish day before and day after we figured we could fish and not have to drive but one time down and back and it only cost $0.00 more a day rather that drive back and forth say daily to Fork a 2.5 hour drive both ways
How has Gas prices effected your fishing and any ideas that might help others to still be able to afford fishing

Bill since gas has gone from $1.25 to $2.25 I have cut way back on running all over the lake to fish. It may be better because I am learning more about the areas I am fishing instead of hole hopping.

I know it has to have a negative impact on fun fishing but it is killing guides who are not able to raise prices accordingly. My experience in the Triton with Yamaha 250 on tournament days is $100 for pre-fish and "the" day just for gas. Entry plus lodging and food can be a piece of change for a non-winner. So, I expect the gas prices are cutting back on the days on the water that most of us are used to. Dern it!!!

It hasn't hindered me! You have to make adjustments. I will argue that gas isn't nearly as expensive as some of the other things one can blow money on. Beer, tobacco, bottled water, ice, overpriced motel rooms, and the list could continue.

Good point Phil. I have lived in places in the world where 2.50 a gallon gasoline was considered a real bargain. Then too in others like Saudi where it was priced at our 1950's prices all the time 25 cents a gallon. Guess it's all relative. As long as I can, I will buy my gas and go fishing. I just give up those other things you mentioned. George
