WOW Geez Bill in my book bigger is always better. I like my X-15 because of the screen size. Especially in the split screen mode. I couldn't afford a color unit when I got mine but they have come down alot in price. I would get the biggest one you can afford. I don't know anything about the Garmins

you can go to garmin and lawrance websites and check out the differences. there both good units, and you'd be satisfied w/ either. don't overlook eagle....

I have been to both sites and emailed questions to both of them
Both did a great job of answering my questions
John I was just wondering how they liked the LXC 20C and if the size is adequate to do the split screen and read both sides the 332C is just a Little too small it is smaller than my 168S Garmin and it barely works split
the 20X is larger it is also $275 more but accepts two cards and has a few more features the 332C does not

From what I have seen so far people are having problems with the LMS332C. I haven't heard anything bad about the X-20 I believe it was and X-19 last year. I will e-mail Bob and I am sure will get a reply if he isn't on the water. Ed I have problems with my sonar but not my GPS. What kind of problems are you having?? Brad Volland Skeeter Team Member and Lowrance Guru will be on the board later today and will be answering questions. So post them now Brad had Jury duty yesterday and is catching up on his work.

i keep getting a "gps module not responding" error... it looses the "signal" etc.. most of the time the gps is useless.... this is the 3rd antenna i have had on it, and i also downloaded the software udate and loaded it... that didnt work either... i am planning on sending the whole thing back as soon as limestone is over.... oh yea, i also rigged it up so the antenna is right on top of the unit, so there is no extention cable... that didnt work either..

I been running the LMS 332 for 3 months now and have not had any trouble with the unit at all.
As far as the LMS 332 goes its got 480 vertical pixel in color and the unit as the new TFT screen which operates well in direct sunlight you should not have any trouble seeing the screen now in direct sunlight. With 480 vertical pixel the detail on this unit will be very sharp and clear.
Whats important is the vertical pixel count on units when comparing one unit to another this will determine how sharp and clear detailed the picture will be.
I myself like the bigger units because my eyes are not as good as they use to be and with the larger screen size its easier to see. The only reason I am running the LMS 332 up front on my boat is because this is the largest unit that will flush mount on my boat but it still has the high end detail and sharp picture with 480 vertical pixel.
As far as larger units go I would recommend going with in color the LCX-25C or in monochrome the LCX-17M because of again the high vertical pixel count.
The color, the vertical pixel count and the power is what determines the price on a lot of the units.
What I always tell people is to buy the most vertical pixel count they can afford.
With the new color screens that can be used in direct sunlight its just a matter of time before most all the units will be in color.
Hope this helps.

I noticed the 20C is 1/4 VGA not real sure what they mean by that and it's effect the 25C is full VGA

Bill, I have the globalmap 3500c the sister to the 332c all I can say is wow on the gps function. I have no problem reading it and the menues are freindly. I have not had any instance of losing signal on the water as of yet and I am running the premium hot spots mapping software from navionics. everything is working great right now knock on wood. I think I will be getting a color unit for the bow next year but I will wait to see what comes out and let the prices keep falling.
