Just got a new X67C and I am going to install it this weekend. It came with the skimmer type transducer but I want to put it inside the boat. What is your opinion on this and will it give me the same detail if I get a good location and seal on the bottom?

Bob I have heard that people do epoxy the skimmer type transducer into thier hulls. Personally I would call Lowrance and exchange it for a puck type. Give them you CC number so they can ship the puck. When you return the skimmer they will credit your card back

thats the only kind of transducer i use they call it a "high speed" t-ducer....
i mount mine by first cleaning the spot i want to put it... as far back as possible so that even on plane it will be in the water... then take some silicone and make a little pond dam... then fill the pond with epoxy and gently press the t-ducer into the epoxy... the pond only needs to be 3 or 4 inched in diameter, but when you put in the epoxy be sure there are no air bubbles... also it only needs about 1/4-1/2" of epoxy, you only need to stick the bottom side of the t-ducer... this has always worked for me and it seems to last... my last boat i had for 5 or 6 yrs and it help the whole time, and this boat is 3 or 4 yrs old and still holding... the other advantage is that is in inside the boat, no srew holes and will pick up even at high speed...

Yeah, I think they just charge you for the shipping for the exchange, but you loose the temp probe out of the skimmer. I did that on my LMS320 a couple of years ago. Then I purchased a stand alone temp probe and the daisy chain adapter and still got what I wanted and still have capability for the 2 other temp probes if I ever want them. Even though they did not show the possibility of my configuration, I called and talked to an engineer about it and he verified it would work.

my temp reading still works through the hull... it may take a little while for that spot in the hull to even out to the water temp, but i still get a pretty accurate reading... at least it matches the reading i get from the trolling motor unit...

Mine is the same way Ed I get a surface hull reading. Under my dash is a Y connector. If I hook a T-1 temp sensor up to it and mount it on the rear on the boat the unit will default to the sensor. But like Ed said it gets pretty close once the boats been in the water awhile

Only thing is, if he gets rid of the skimmer, he looses the temp probe.
And yeah, if you have a skimmer and a T1 probe, it will default to the skimmer.
