my buddy just bought an o4 triton with a 225 vmax. here is the problem, while running the boat at high speeds, he notice a drastic decrease in water pressure, he as lower the motor and it did not seem to help it.. The overheat buzzer did go off one time before he realized he had the problem. does anybody know of any such problems... he did not have the measurements, but said he has lowered the motor as far as he could (the steering cable are almost rubbing the boat it is so low) he moved it in small increments but nothing changed. he has 20psi at 5000rpms but 5500-6200 it will go as low as 0. thank you in advance for your help. He has also replaced the waterpump with no chang in performance

He probably needs to check his popett valve? it may be full of sand or crap. He also needs to make sure he has the latest updated water pick ups on his lower unit. Mine where not updated when I replaced my lower unit and the boat would over heat at high rpms only. I changed the pickups and the problem went away.

There are a couple more things he can try and a new impeller would be my first try and the second would check with a dealer to make sure he has the correct water pick up plates on his lower unit they did a change in that time frame that curred most of the problems

I have an 04 tr20X/ yamaha efi and mine did the same thing. He needs to take it to the shop and get new screens. Yamaha knows about the problem. I made a run this fall and noticed that my water pressure dropped from 20 to 0. I lowered the moter to 4" below and still had the same thing happen. When I took it to the shop the guy called yamaha and they sent some new intake screens with less holes. Problem solved!

My mechanic had not heard about the update either. But, he called Yamaha they knew exactly what my problem was. So tell your parts guy to call the factory they even covered the repairs.

VZ series screen , nose cone inlet, Part #60X-W4521-02-00. The dynamic screen side water inlet for 03-06 F225/Z250/Z300 Part # 90891-40410-00-00. The first part number is for the low profile nose cone edition gear cases. The second number is for side water entry on the 4 stroke and Z series engines. Yours should be the first part number, although I do not know your model and serial number.

Give me a model and serial number so I can look it up. Some cases vary in design.
